KARNATAKA KAYASTH SABHA (KKS) TRANSFORMED TO BECOME KARNATAKA KAYASTHA SAMAJ (KKS)

TO INCREASE ITS OBJECTIVES, SCOPE AND REACH, AND ALSO ENSURE STATUTORY COMPLIANCE

KKS is a non-profit social organization and has been in existence for more than four decades with different names. KKS has a very glorious past and has grown with time expanding its reach, directions, and operations.

CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSENT

The Executive Committee members always wished to have its presence felt and also for people to recognize it by its work first then name. Currently, it is known as Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS) promoting culture, art, literature, education, and other activities that are consistent with Indian culture. A brief on how Karnataka Kayastha Sabha was transformed to become Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS).

Considering the long terms vision of KKS leaders, the Executive Committee (EC) members of Karnataka Kayastha Sabha (KKS) felt the need to increase its Objectives, Scope, and Reach, and also to ensure statutory Compliance moving forward. A resolution was passed by its members to dissolve the Karnataka Kayastha Sabha (KKS) as per the provisions of the Act transferring all its existing properties to Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS) (that was to be registered under Karnataka Society's Registration Act, during its meeting held on 30th Sept. 2018 at Hotel A2b Ulsoor, Bangalore.

“The members of the Karnataka Kayastha Sabha have resolved to reconstitute the Karnataka Kayastha Sabha as the Karnataka Kayastha Samaj and hereby resolve to dissolve the Karnataka Kayastha Sabha and vest the Karnataka Kayastha Samaj with the legacy and goodwill of the Karnataka Kayastha Sabha together with its assets, including the list of members, contact lists, newsletter, and other intellectual property assets. The above resolution is issued in suppression of all prior resolutions on the subject matter, which preceding resolution shall be considered cancelled and shall have no further effect”

The members of the Executive Committee (EC) presented the above resolution to members during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Financial Year 2018-19 held at 7 pm on 20.10.2019 at Hotel Pride, Richmond Road, Bangalore. All the members who were present during the AGM unanimously approved and ratified the above resolution passed. Accordingly, all the existing rights and obligations of Karnataka Kayastha Sabha including life members were transferred to Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS), the Term Deposits, Bank, and Cash Balance. Thereafter, the paperwork in this regard was initiated with the help of consultants and the CA. The application was submitted, and the Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS) was registered with the Registrar of Society, Malleswaram, Bangalore on 15th March 2019. Members were informed about it during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Financial Year (FY) 2019-20 which was held at 7 pm on 20th September 2020 over the Online Zoom Platform.

Since the entire world was going through tough times then due to the outbreak of Corona, the deadly virus caused serious damage to almost everyone, creating an environment of unhappiness, economic uncertainty, and loss of human lives, causing havoc and chaos everywhere. The movement got restricted and everyone was confined to their homes. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as COVID-19 taught almost everyone new ways of living with limited resources. The world looked really small as everyone was interacting with each other using digital means without worrying too much about long distances travel and traffic hassles. As a result, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) was organized Online on 20th September 2020, considering the then ongoing restrictions on meeting people face to face due to Corona. This was the first Online AGM of KKS organized as per the then guidelines of Registrar of Society, Karnataka.

KK SAMAJ (KKS) NEVER DREAMT ABOUT SUCCESS, WORKED TOWARD IT.

While the entire world kept fighting against CORONA for almost here years, which infected millions of people across the world, the team EC of Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS) fortunately got infected with the “KARO NA” attitude which pushed the EC members to do something different for the community and society as a whole. Keeping up the traditions, KK Samaj achieved newer standards of professionalism, teamwork, and quality for all its deliverables throughout and pledges to continue to explore newer ways and means to bring a change in society, moving forward as well.

A rare combination of talent, synchronization, and enthusiasm of members is what continues to help KK Samaj (KKS) deliver quality and entertaining content to members of all age groups. Thanks to members for spreading the word about KK Samaj (KKS) and making it popular across.

Over a period of time, the KK Samaj (KKS) backend team also gained expertise in handling and exploring the power of Zoom in terms of better control and setting up live streaming on Facebook (KKS page) besides ensuring the best possible audio, video, and quality of recorded videos which were also played during the events.

NETWORKING WITH SIMILAR ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS INDIA

Networking is the mantra for success in today’s scenario. Considering its importance, KK Samaj (KKS) has been interacting with prominent Kayastha groups like Akhil Bhartiya Kayastha Mahasabha, NCR, Delhi (President, Mr. R D Srivastav) National Kayastha Action Committee (NKAC), Delhi (Mr. Anuranjan Srivastav), Kayastha Pariwar, UP (Dr. Rohan Saxena, Secretary), Kayastha Vansh (President, Mr. Dinesh Nigam) and Saxena Samaj, Kanpur (Mr. R C Saxena) to widen its reach.

DIGITALIZATION INITIATIVES TAKEN BY KK SAMAJ (KKS) SO FAR

In order to keep pace with the changing technology, Karnataka Kayastha Samaj (KKS) has taken various initiatives to improve its working, record keeping, and productivity and also to ease out the process of reaching out to members. The initiatives taken so far include:

  • Digitization of Records - Important documents and photos highlighting the rich history of KKS since its beginning have been digitized (scanned) and stored on Google Drive and also on a Hard Drive.
  • Kayastha Darpan -– A Quarterly Newsletter/ Magazine has been in practice in digital format for many years and is being made available to members through WhatsApp, Email, and social media platforms like FB.
  • Event Invitation Cards – Digital invites (jpg and video) have been in practice for quite some time. This has helped bring out and showcase the creativity of members and their families.
  • Online Events – KKS started an initiative “KKS Connect” to connect members online during the lockdown conditions across. The online events conducted so far have been really successful and liked by everyone. This is also helping KKS increase its reach for wider publicity and participation.
  • Online Registration for Events – KKS introduced online registration through Google Forms for online events. Members also found it convenient to register and participate.
  • KKS Website - KKS launched its website karnatakakayasthasamaj.org which is open to members and everyone across. Members can visit the same and start contributing to enhance its features and content showcasing Kayastha culture, and the contribution made to society by eminent Kayasthas.
  • Presence on Facebook (FB) and YouTube - KKS created its page “Karnataka Kayastha Samaj – KKS” on FB and a channel on YouTube with the same name to make its presence felt. Video recordings of events have been uploaded onto these platforms. This has helped members enjoy KKS events live and also at leisure from wherever they are. The number of views on the KKS FB page and YouTube channel has been increasing making KKS popular across.
  • WhatsApp Groups - KKS has been communicating with members over WhatsApp to notify them of its events, important notifications, and milestones. It is an instant and popular messaging system which is keeping the members informed about all the activities being carried out by the EC team of KKS.
  • Digital Certificates - KKS introduced the concept of a multicolor digital certificate which is being given to award winners and artists for their valuable contribution to KKS, along with an appreciation cover note.
  • Online AGM – KKS has conducted online Annual General Meetings (AGM) successfully for the FY 2019-20, FY 2020-21, and FY 2021-22.
  • Online Executive Committee (EC) Meetings – During the Corona pandemic, the EC team conducted monthly online meetings every month
  • Online Filling of Membership Details – Google form was created to enable members to provide their details for filling the same in the new membership form.
  • Online Nominations for various awards – helping KKS recognize talent across.

  • Providing merit award amount to winners online through standard procedures of SBI wherein two EC members are involved in the creation of an e-cheque (Treasurer) and approver

YOUR SUPPORT IS CRUCIAL TO OUR EFFORTS

Based on the feedback received from members from time to time on various online and offline events organized for members, Quarterly Newsletter - Kayastha Darpan, AGM, and statutory compliances with the Registrar of Society (RoS) and Income Tax (IT) department, it is evident that the overall image of KK Samaj has gone up significantly high over the last few years. The team EC needs to maintain the same level of energy and enthusiasm to organize future events with complete transparency by thinking differently and innovatively. KK Samaj has also gained visibility across and continues to get a really good response from its members and others.

Team KK Samaj (KKS) will continue to make all possible efforts to increase its popularity to make KKS, a well-known name of repute across India besides making an impact in society.

Needless to say, no event is successful without an enthusiastic audience. It would not have been possible to achieve whatever little team EC could do so far.
